HOW I BROKE FREE FROM ADDICTIONS….

It was late 2005 and I just gave my life to Christ. I was a few weeks in Christ but still had the challenge of trying to stop smoking. I knew I had a new life and was all glad, saved and redeemed; but I was still surrounded by my gang and had everything the old life presented, still glaring at me. So, for me, smoking was a temptation I was battling with.

The day I accepted Christ, I joined a Service Unit in Church. Serving God is very important if you must grow in your walk with God. Those who just want to accept Christ and go to Church only on Sundays, without accepting His call to serve, will never go far to enjoy the benefits of the Kingdom of God.

If you do not serve, you will not grow. In God’s Kingdom, Sonship without Service is irresponsibility. Christ came to serve and not to be served; what other model do you think we can adopt? If you do not serve God actively, many Covenant blessings will be inaccessible to you, even if your Salvation is genuine.

I joined the Sanctuary Keepers and joined the group to clean the Church weekly. But I did this in faith. I did not just clean the Church; I was serving God specifically with faith in my heart. I knew the Bible said, that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; 1Cor. 6:19. So, as I was sweeping and cleaning the Church, I kept telling God; “As I am cleaning your House, clean my life (your temple) of every dirty attitude and negative addiction.” And it worked!

After a few weeks, I was on my way back home from one of our cleaning sessions. As I passed by the spot I used to buy cigarette, the smoke of cigarette passed by my nose and the smell irritated me, I nearly had a running stomach. I immediately knew that I was delivered from the addiction of smoking and drinking.

Before then, I could smoke all kinds of things. But no more! I received deliverance by the mystery of Kingdom Service, and by doing it in faith. Ex 23:25 says, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.”

When you serve God, He takes away sickness from your life; and this includes negative addictions such as lesbianism, homosexuality, masturbation, smoking and drinking, stealing, anything that is a stranger to the life that Christ wants you to lead. Serving God in Faith breaks the yoke of addictions.

Since that moment till forever, I am free from smoking, drinking and other negative addictions.

For Kingdom Service to work for you, you must first be a child of the King; you must be born again. So if you have not accepted Jesus into your heart or you are still willfully living in sin, you need to repent now. Say this Prayer from your heart; “Lord, I am a sinner; have mercy on me. I accept Jesus into my heart, as my Lord and Saviour. From now, I am born again and recieve Championship over satan, over win and over the world. Amen!”

Are you struggling with any addiction as a child of God? Is the devil trying to tempt you with the battles of the former life? Go and Serve GOD in Faith. Even if you have sinned, ask God for mercy, then plant yourself in the redeeming Power of Kingdom Service. Those that are planted in Zion, will not lack nourishment. Today, I see God break off every chain of addiction on your life in Jesus name. Amen.
